Essential Oils – The Best Ways to Perform Aromatherapy

If you have ever been to the spa and been given a professional massage, then you probably remember the sweet fragrance and aroma you encountered in the massage room. Your massage experience, believe it or not, was enhanced by the aromatic fragrance in the air – and was just as important to your health as the massage. The health benefits you received by inhaling the vitalizing scents in the air is called aromatherapy.

Aromatherapy is a form of alternative medicine that uses plant materials, known as Wholesale Essential Oils, and other aromatic compounds for the purpose of altering a person’s mind, mood, cognitive function or health. To release fragrances into the air, essential oils are generally diffused throughout the room using a diffuser (or aromatherapy diffuser), and there are four different types of diffusers to choose from. However, the method of aromatherapy you choose is really only limited to your imagination. This article will discuss some of the best ways to get the most out of your aromatherapy experience.

Aromatherapy, when combined with a massage, is an excellent way to relieve aching muscles, tension, stress, and headaches. However, this method of treatment is not always practical because of financial or time restraints. Professional massages can be quite costly, and even if you have someone willing to give you a quality massage for free – finding the perfect time when your schedules align may be difficult. Nonetheless, enjoying the sweet smell of essential oils while receiving a massage creates a very relaxing, soothing, and memorable experience (lavender oil has been effective as a massage mixture to relieve joint and muscle pain).

A more inexpensive way to create the “spa experience” is to use essential oils in your bath. Rosemary oil works great for this purpose due to its versatility as a pleasant smelling aroma and when combined with other popular oils like frankincense oil. Just add as many drops of essential oil to your hot bath to suit your preference and massage some oil into your scalp and across your chest. Or, add a few drops on a wash cloth and place it on your forehead. When the oil is inhaled, the aroma will boost your mental energy and clear your respiratory tract. The bath water will work to relax your muscles, remove tension, and help to reduce unwanted stress.

Because there are over one hundred different types of essential oils to choose from, oils can be combined to create the particular smell that you desire, making it great to use as a perfume. Add approximately 25 – 30 drops of essential oils to 1 ounce of perfume alcohol and let the solution age two weeks before using. Once it’s done aging, just rub a few drops of oil around your neck or upper lip, so the vapor is inhaled, to enjoy the rich vitalizing fragrance throughout the day.

As a cheaper alternative to air spray, lavender oil can be combined with water in a small bottle and sprayed into the air. Just add about 30 drops of lavender oil to distilled water in a 2 ounce bottle and spray the surrounding air. Unlike commercial air sprays, you won’t be overpowered by the smell; and because you are using a water bottle that can be reused, you are helping the environment by limiting trash. You can also use the spray to freshen pillows and household furniture.

To achieve sensational smelling towels, linen, and bed sheets, and about 5 drops of your favorite essential oil combination to ¼ cup fabric softener or water to your wash. To achieve even better results, add a few drops of oil to a small piece of cloth and toss it into your clothes dryer during the drying process.
